2 women fall victim to snatching in Mohammadpur after returning to Dhaka

Two women were robbed in front of their house in the capital Dhaka after returning from the Eid-ul-Azha holiday.

According to the victims, the robbers threatened them with a machete and took away their luggage and valuables.

The incident took place in the Nurjahan Road area of ​​Mohammadpur in the capital around 3am last Saturday. Police say that a person involved in the robbery has been identified and efforts are underway to arrest him.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. In the video, two women are seen getting off a rickshaw and standing in front of the gate of their house, with the rickshaw driver next to them. Suddenly, a man with a machete comes there. He is wearing a lungi, a black shirt, and a cap on his head. Another person is also seen with him. They threatened the two women with a machete and snatched their luggage, bags and other belongings.

Mohammadpur Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Rakibuzzaman Rakib said, according to the information of the victims, they came from Thakurgaon by bus and got down at Shyamoli in Dhaka and later went home by rickshaw. They were robbed in front of their house.

The police officer also said, "We have identified one person involved in this incident. We are trying to arrest him."
