2 workers hurt amid explosion at mixer plant in Faridpur
An explosion occurred at a mixer plant used for road pitch pouring in Faridpur. Two workers were seriously injured after being burnt. At that time, a thick cloud of smoke spread to an area about 10 kilometers away.
On Friday (April 11), at around 2:30 pm, the explosion occurred at the plant owned by Zahidur Rahman, which was temporarily set up in the area adjacent to the Dhaka-Barishal bypass road in Brahmankandar of the city.
At that time, three to four shops nearby were burnt. Later, a team of the Faridpur fire brigade brought the fire under control.
The two workers who were seriously injured in the incident were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
The two burnt workers are Al Amin Molla (35), son of Joynal Molla of Kailadanga village in Maheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah district, and Md., son of Hazrat Ali of Bakulnagar village in the same upazila. Moksed Ali (40).
The goods there were burnt in the explosion. However, the extent of the damage could not be determined immediately, the fire brigade said.
It is known that a private contractor has been working there for a long time by setting up a mixer plant used for road work. The road is repaired by mixing stones, pitch and green oil there.
Confirming the truth of the incident, Faridpur Fire Brigade Senior Station Officer Md. Nazrul Islam said that the explosion occurred from a motor of the rolling or mixer machine of the plant. At that time, the intensity of the fire increased. Because, green oil is more flammable or intense. In addition, gas cylinders of some shops in front also exploded. The fire was quickly brought under control after receiving the information. However, the information about the damage is not yet known.
