2 youths killed in Lakshmipur road accident

Two youths were killed in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Ramganj of Lakshmipur.

The accident occurred on the Ramganj-Hajiganj road between Khalifa Darja and Katakhali areas of the upazila on Friday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Hridoy Hossain, 25, son of Md. Shahjahar of Atiya Bari in Udanpara village of Noagaon union, and Nazmul Hasan, 24, son of Md. Shafiq of the same area.

Police said that Hridoy and Nazmul were going from Katakhali to Ramganj on a motorcycle. On the way, their bike collided with an auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction. Hridoy died on the spot while Nazmul was rescued. He was taken to the hospital where doctor on duty referred him to Dhaka. He died on his way to Dhaka.

Ramganj Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Anwar Hossain said that one person was injured and one person was brought to the hospital dead. The injured youth later died on the way to Dhaka.

Ramganj Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Anwar Hossain said the body has been recovered. The auto-rickshaw driver fled after the accident and could not be arrested. Further legal action will be taken as per the decision of the families of the deceased.
