20 injured in Rangpur road accident

Twenty passengers were injured in a collision between two buses in Pirganj, Rangpur.


The accident took place in front of the Baradargah Highway Outpost on the Rangpur-Dhaka Highway in the upazila around 7:30am on Friday (January 31).

According to the witnesses and the police, a Rangpur Express bus collided head on with a Sadika Talukder Paribahan bus near a police outpost while it was dropping passengers. The crash left about 20 people injured, with 6-7 in serious condition. They were sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Some were treated at Pirganj Upazila Health Complex, while others received primary care and left.

Mohammad Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of the Outpost, said: "Local residents, police officers, and the fire service assisted in the rescue efforts. The vehicles have been taken into custody by the outpost police."
