During joint force operations nationwide between May 8 and 14, a total of 200 individuals were arrested, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Friday.

Led by the Bangladesh Army in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, the operations targeted maintaining law and order across Dhaka and other regions.

Those apprehended included suspects involved in murder, illegal arms possession, listed criminals, smugglers, juvenile gang members, illegal sand extraction, tree cutting, drug dealing, addiction, and other illicit activities.

The operations also recovered ten illegal firearms, 87 rounds of ammunition, 11 bombs, narcotics, locally made weapons, stolen mobile phones and passports, smuggled sugar and spices, unauthorized medicines, and cash.

Detainees were handed over to local police for interrogation and prosecution. The army continues regular patrols nationwide, contributing to public safety and helping to ease industrial worker unrest, ISPR stated.

Army patrols also provided round-the-clock security during Buddha Purnima, an important Buddhist festival.

The Bangladesh Army remains committed to maintaining law and order and encourages the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest army camp.
