Stating that the 2024 flood was not a normal flood, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus said, "When we took charge of the government, the flood started immediately. We did not understand exactly what kind of flood would happen here. The floods that occur in other years are floods in a completely different place. We had no idea how deeply it would affect people. Or it was estimated that it would pass quickly. But as the days went by, it was getting harder."

He said this at a virtual ceremony at the Chief Advisor's Tejgaon office on Wednesday (April 30) morning to hand over the keys to the houses of flood victims.

The victims of Chattogram, Feni, Noakhali and Comilla districts were handed over the keys virtually at the ceremony.

The Chief Adviser said, the flood was increasing. Everyone was running around with relief supplies, jumping all over the country for help. I realized how big the flood was long after the flood had passed. Those who lost their homes in the flood had nowhere to go. There were various proposals coming, money would have to be paid for the house. I took a strong stand on giving money. If money is to be paid, the distribution of this money will be in many ways. It will not reach those who deserve it. Then the proposal came that it would be done through the Ashrayan project, I did not know about that project, but I knew the name. Then I thought how it could be done, later I came to know that the army would do it. Then I felt relieved, in fact the money would be used properly.

He said, it feels good that the money has been used properly. The house has also been built properly. Many times, even though money is used, the quality is not right. Today I am also assured about the quality. The work was done for half the money we paid. The opposite is the news. Usually, double the money is asked for. Here, half of what is given has been used. It is a happy news.
