206 mm rainfall in Dhaka, thundershowers likely today

Dhaka has recorded 206 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department's Storm Warning Center on Wednesday (October 1) morning said that rain or thundershowers may occur in Dhaka and surrounding areas in the next 6 hours from 7am.

The forecast also said that the sky may remain temporarily partly cloudy to overcast. During this time, winds may blow from the south and southeast at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour.

The Meteorological Office said that the day's temperature may drop by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius compared to normal. At 6 am today, the temperature in Dhaka was 24.4 degrees Celsius and the humidity in the air was 98 percent. The highest temperature recorded yesterday was 35.5 degrees Celsius and today's minimum was 24.2 degrees Celsius.

Incidentally, according to the Meteorological Department, 1-10 millimeters of rain in 24 hours is considered light, 11-22 millimeters is considered moderate, 23-43 millimeters is considered moderately heavy, 44-88 millimeters is considered heavy, and more than 88 millimeters is considered very heavy. Accordingly, the 206 millimeters of rain recorded in Dhaka is being considered very heavy rain.
