21 arrested in police raid in Dhaka’s Jatrabari

Police have arrested 21 people during a special operation in the Jatrabari area of Dhaka, targeting individuals allegedly involved in various offences.

The operation was conducted across Jatrabari police station areas on Saturday, while the arrests were confirmed on Sunday (August 9) by Niaz Mehedi, additional deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Media and Public Relations Division.

The detainees include Zahidul Islam, 51; Omar Faruk, 38; Abdur Rahim, 35; Ratan Dewan, 30; Sajib, 19; Ramzan; Jafar; Sani; Delwar Hossain, 32; Raju, 28; Shariful Islam Mahim, 25; Shariful Islam, 32; Ahammad Dhrubo, 32; Tanvir Ahmed, 19; Noyon, 25; A. Salam, 27; Raju Islam, 23; Piar Ali, 19; Shahin, 20; Abdur Rahman Shuvo, 23; and Rafsan, 20.

According to police, the arrests include suspects linked to regular criminal cases and other offences. Authorities said such operations will continue as part of efforts to maintain law and order in the capital.

Legal proceedings against those arrested are underway.
