23,800 pieces of yaba pills recovered in Teknaf

Police have recovered 23,800 yaba tablets during an anti-drug operation in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. An auto-rickshaw allegedly used to transport the drugs was also seized. However, no arrests have been reported in connection with the incident.

Members of the Hoayikong Police Outpost conducted the anti-drug operation at around 10pm on Wednesday (19 August). During the operation, police searched an auto-rickshaw and recovered a large quantity of yaba tablets.

Police said the auto-rickshaw was seized following the search. The estimated market value of the recovered yaba was not immediately available.

Mohammad Saiful Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Teknaf Model Police Station, said a case had been filed under the Narcotics Control Act in connection with the incident.

He said police were working to identify and bring to justice those involved in drug trafficking and dealing. Legal proceedings concerning the recovered yaba tablets and the seized auto-rickshaw are underway.
