Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have detained 244 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliates while attempting flash processions in the capital. Police also seized 14 crude bombs and seven banners during the operation. At a press briefing on Wednesday (September 24), Additional Commissioner (Crime &amp; Operations) S.N. Nazrul Islam said the arrests were made in Uttara, Farmgate, and Tejgaon areas. The detainees had reportedly come from Mymensingh, Kishoreganj, Gazipur, and Gopalganj. He added that over 500 activists had already been arrested in recent raids across Dhaka. Warning of further unrest, Nazrul Islam accused the outlawed party of trying to destabilise law and order ahead of the national election.

ঢাকায় ঝটিকা মিছিল করার সময় কার্যক্রম নিষিদ্ধ আওয়ামী লীগ ও এর অঙ্গসংগঠনের ২৪৪ জন নেতা-কর্মীকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে ঢাকা মহানগর পুলিশ (ডিএমপি)। এ সময় তাদের কাছ থেকে ১৪টি ককটেল এবং ৭টি ব্যানার উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে। বুধবার (২৪ সেপ্টেম্বর) বিকালে মিন্টো রোডের ডিএমপি মিডিয়া সেন্টারে এক সংবাদ সম্মেলনে ঢাকা মহানগর পুলিশের অতিরিক্ত কমিশনার (ক্রাইম অ্যান্ড অপারেশনস) এস.এন. নজরুল ইসলাম এ তথ্য জানান। তিনি বলেন, ঝটিকা মিছিলের চেষ্টা চলাকালে রাজধানীর উত্তরা, ফার্মগেট ও তেজগাঁও এলাকা থেকে ২৪৪ জন নেতা-কর্মীকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়েছে। তারা ময়মনসিংহ, কিশোরগঞ্জ, গাজীপুর ও গোপালগঞ্জ থেকে এসেছে। নজরুল ইসলাম আরও জানান, এর আগে ডিএমপির ধারাবাহিক অভিযানে রাজধানীর বিভিন্ন এলাকা থেকে ৫ শতাধিক নেতা-কর্মীকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়েছে। তিনি সতর্ক করে বলেন, নির্বাচনকে সামনে রেখে আইনশৃঙ্খলা পরিস্থিতি অবনতি ঘটানোর চেষ্টা করছে নিষিদ্ধ দলটি।
