25 abducted workers released after 3 days in Bandarban

25 rubber workers kidnapped in Bandarban have been released after 3 days. Some of the kidnapped workers have fallen ill. Law enforcement agencies rescued the abductees from the Baishari Jhiri area on the Naikshongchhari-Lama border on Tuesday (February 18) morning. Lama Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Moin Uddin confirmed the matter.

Law enforcement agencies and local sources said that on the night of February 15, armed terrorists from the hills kidnapped 25 rubber plantation workers at gunpoint from six rubber plantations in the Murung Jhiri area of ​​Fasiakhali Union of Lama Upazila.

he kidnappers demanded one lakh taka each for the release of the kidnapped workers. Upon receiving the information, members of the joint force launched a raid in possible places to rescue the abductees. The joint forces claimed that the armed men escaped after being pressured by the joint forces' operation. However, local sources claim that the workers were released after receiving a ransom from the families of the 25 abducted workers.

Some of the names of the released workers have been found. They are: Md. Faruk, Md. Ayub Ali, Md. Siddique, Md. Abdul Khalek, Abdul Majed, residents of Kangar Bil area of ​​Baishari union of Naikshongchhari upazila. Monirul Islam, Mobarak, Md. Harun, Ramiz Uddin, Syed Nur, Md. Kaiser, Md. Monir Hossain, Md. Imran, residents of Alikhong area of ​​the upazila. Manjur, Afsar Ali, Khairul Amin, Abu Bakkar, Md. Abdur Razzak and Mubin, residents of Idgar union of Cox's Bazar district, and the remaining 6 workers have also been released.

Confirming the truth of the incident, Lama Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Moin Uddin said the workers were rescued from the Baishari Jhiri area on the Naikshangchhari-Lama border in Naikshangchhari upazila. Some of them are being taken to the hospital as they have fallen ill.
