25 arrested in Dhaka raid in 24hrs, 46 cases filed

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 525 people and filed 46 cases during raids across the capital over 24 hours.

The arrests were made during operations in different police station areas of Dhaka on Wednesday, according to a police press release issued today.

The Mirpur division recorded the highest number of arrests at 150, followed by Tejgaon with 73, Motijheel with 63, Wari with 55, Gulshan with 50, Lalbagh with 47, Uttara with 46 and Ramna with 36.

The Detective Branch (DB) arrested four people, while the Special Response Unit (SRU) arrested one.

Police seized 5.255 kilograms of cannabis, 23,146 yaba tablets and 80 bottles of Eskuf cough syrup during the operations.

Other items seized included a motorcycle, a private car, two walkie-talkies, six mobile phones and 350 kilograms of scrap cable.

Further legal action against the arrested individuals was underway.
