25 held over plot to release 100,000 gas balloons near Jamuna

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 25 activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliates for allegedly planning to release 100,000 gas balloons bearing party slogans near the Chief Adviser’s residence, Jamuna, and other parts of the capital to disrupt law and order.

According to a DMP statement on Sunday, the arrests were made by the Detective Branch (DB) during raids across the city on Saturday and Sunday.

Police said the detainees admitted during initial questioning that they were plotting to incite panic through flash processions and create unrest in Dhaka from Monday to Wednesday.
