250 Bangladeshis detained in Gujrat deported to Dhaka
A total of 250 Bangladeshi nationals detained in Gujarat, India, have been deported to Dhaka as part of an ongoing crackdown on undocumented foreign nationals in the state.
Indian authorities carried out the deportation on Friday (July 4), sending the group back via a special Indian Air Force flight from the Vadodara air base under tight security measures.
According to reports from India TV, the detainees were transported in handcuffs from various cities across Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot. They were brought to the airport by police-escorted buses prior to the flight’s departure.
The Gujarat state administration has confirmed that more than 1,200 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly living in India without valid documents have been identified. Many among the deported individuals were reportedly found in possession of counterfeit Indian identification documents, such as Aadhaar and PAN cards.
Authorities say the action is part of a wider operation to address the rising number of undocumented foreign nationals residing in urban centers across the state. State and central law enforcement agencies, including intelligence units, are conducting intensified surveillance and identity verification efforts in a bid to root out those using fraudulent documentation.
Officials have indicated that the operation will continue in the coming weeks. The public has been urged to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activity involving foreign nationals.
