250,000 cubic feet of illegally looted stones recovered in Sylhet
During an joint operation on Saturday (August 16), the administration recovered around 250,000 cubic feet of illegally looted stones from Dhupagul Point and Mahaldi villages in Sylhet Sadar Upazila.
The stones were seized from crusher mills, storage sites, and vehicles used for smuggling.
Sylhet Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Khoshnur Rubaiyat led the operation. Of the total recovered, about 150,000 cubic feet were seized from crusher mills in Dhupagul and 100,000 cubic feet from houses and roads in Mahaldi.
UNO Rubaiyat said, "The operation is still underway. Administration is on firm stance against illegal extraction of natural resources."
On the previous day, another 100,000 cubic feet of stones were recovered in Companiganj, with half already returned to its source.
