Malaysian authorities have detained 26 Bangladeshi nationals at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for attempting to enter the country without valid justification under tourist visas.

The Malaysian Border Control and Security Agency (AKPS) confirmed the detentions on Wednesday (August 6), stating that the individuals arrived from Dhaka on two separate flights on Tuesday, August 5. Suspicious behaviour led officials to intercept them at the international arrival gate, after which they were taken for questioning.

Initial investigations revealed that the detainees failed to provide satisfactory reasons for entering Malaysia on tourist visas. Authorities have begun arrangements for their immediate repatriation.

In a statement, AKPS emphasized that such unauthorized entries pose a risk to national security and public order. It reiterated that strict surveillance and enforcement efforts are ongoing at key entry points, including KLIA Terminals 1 and 2.

The agency also noted an increase in individuals—particularly from Bangladesh and other countries—attempting to enter Malaysia under tourist pretenses while seeking employment.

Intelligence monitoring at airports and land borders has been heightened in response.
