26 held in Mohammadpur child Shah Alam murder case
The police have arrested 26 people in connection with a case filed over murder of child Shah Alam.
The murder was committed over establishing dominance in the Geneva camp in Mohammadpur.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Jewel Rana issued the order after a hearing on Tuesday.
State lawyer Muhammad Shamsuddoha Sumon confirmed this information to the media.
The arrested persons were produced before the court and upon the request of the investigating officer of the case and also Mohammadpur Police Station SI Md. Mazharul Islam, the court sent them to jail.
The accused are: Nasir Hossain Nashu, Fayyaz Hossain, Md. Russell, Md. Hira, Md. Al Amin, Md. Jamil, Md. Faisal Hossain, Md. Golam Rasul, Md. Mostaq, Md. Said Hossain, Md. Shuvo, Md. Rakib, Md. Selim, Md. Shaon, Md. Masud Rana, Md. Akash, Md. Istiak, Md. Rashed, Md. Russell, Md. Raj, Md. Rajib, Md. Bashir, Md. Pappu, Shah Alam, Md. Azad Hossain and Faisal Hossain.
The case statement states that the accused regularly carry and use firearms and indigenous weapons to establish dominance and maintain control in the Geneva camp. There have been multiple clashes and bomb attacks in the camp over dominance.
In continuation of this incident, chases and counter-chase incidents have occurred between various drug gangs since the morning of August 11. Around 2:45 pm, the accused engaged in a clash with indigenous weapons and crude bomb. At that time, a child named Shah Alam went to the camp from Bashila to meet his grandmother, fell into the clash and was hit with a machete.
He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition, but doctors declared him dead.
After the incident on August 13, the father of the deceased child, Md. Rubel, filed a murder case with Mohammadpur Police Station.
