26 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death reported in 24 hours
In the last 24 hours, 26 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in the country. These infections were identified from testing 291 samples. During the same period, one person died from the virus.
This information was disclosed in a regular press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday (June 15).
According to the release, with the newly identified cases, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 2,051,833. The total number of deaths now stands at 29,503.
Additionally, four more people have recovered from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,019,410.
The DGHS stated that the overall detection rate since the beginning of the pandemic in the country is 13.05 percent, while the detection rate in the last 24 hours was 8.93 percent.
Earlier, on Saturday (June 14), 7 new cases were reported from testing 139 samples. However, no deaths were recorded on that day.
It is worth noting that the first cases of COVID-19 in the country were reported on March 8, 2020, when three individuals tested positive. The first death from the virus occurred on March 18 of the same year. During the peak of the pandemic, the highest number of daily deaths—264—was recorded on both August 5 and 10 in 2021.
