294 fresh dengue cases reported in 24 hours

Dengue infections continue to rise across the country, with 294 new patients hospitalized in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The update was shared in a press release from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room on Friday (July 5).

Barishal division reported the highest number of new cases, with 126 patients admitted, followed by 48 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 39 in Rajshahi, 31 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 27 in Chittagong, and 23 from other districts of Dhaka division.

No deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. However, since January, dengue has claimed 45 lives in the country.

During the same 24-hour period, 337 dengue patients were released after recovery, bringing the total number of recoveries to 10,673 so far this year.

Overall, 11,954 dengue patients have been hospitalized across Bangladesh between January and July 5, indicating a worrying rise in infections ahead of peak monsoon season.
