Man held for dashing 2-month-old son to death

A father has been accused of beating a two-month-old baby girl to death over a trivial incident in Hathazari, Chittagong. The police have arrested the accused in the incident.

The incident took place in Charia area of ​​Mirzapur union of the upazila on Tuesday morning (April 15). The deceased child's name is Mehera Akhter. She is the child of Md. Osman Gani, 30, and Sumaiya Akhter.

According to local and police sources, a quarrel started between the husband and wife over the delay in serving tea. At one stage, Osman Gani, angry, snatched the baby from his wife's lap and threw it on the ground. The child died on the spot.

Later, Hathazari Model Police Station police, with the help of locals, arrested the accused from Aman Bazar area of ​​Chikondandi union around 11:50pm on Tuesday.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Rupen Nath said that a murder case has been filed in this incident and legal proceedings are ongoing.
