2nd phase of Biswa Ijtema begins

The second phase of Biswa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of Muslims, has started with opening remarks by Maulana Ilyas Bin Saad after Fajr prayer on the bank of Turag in Tongi.

This phase, arranged for Maulana Saad Kandhalvi's followers, will conclude on Feb 11.

Tens of thousands of people from Dhaka and surrounding districts are gathering on the bank of Turag to participate.

For the Biswa Ijtema, Dhaka and Gazipur metropolitan police issued special instructions for vehicle parking and movement to ensure smooth transportation of a large number of people during the Ijtema.

The first phase of Ijtema ended on Feb 4, and officials representing the first phase officially transferred the grounds and materials of Biswa Ijtema to Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Abul Fate Mohammad Safiqul Islam on Feb 6 at the central coordination centre of Biswa Ijtema 2024.

Subsequently, the deputy commissioner officially passed on the responsibility for organising the second phase of the Biswa Ijtema.
