3 arrested over harassment of female journalist in Rampura
The Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) has arrested three people, including the main accused, Shoaib Rahman Jishan (25), in connection with the sexual harassment of a female journalist in capital's Rampura.
RAB-3 Assistant Director ASP Sanad Barua confirmed the arrests on Thursday (April 3) afternoon. They were arrested from different areas of the capital.
The arrested individuals are Shoaib Rahman Jishan (25), Md. Raisul Islam (21), and Md Kawsar Hossain (21).
According to Sanad Barua, on Wednesday night, a video of the incident spread on social media, creating widespread concern. RAB-3 took the matter seriously and started an investigation. The female journalist later filed a case regarding the incident. RAB Headquarters, along with multiple intelligence and operational teams of RAB-3, started working to arrest the accused.
With the help of intelligence and technology, the main accused, Shoaib Rahman Jishan, was arrested from the Meradia area of Rampura police station late Wednesday night. Based on the information he provided, RAB later conducted operations in different areas, arresting Md. Raisul Islam from Bailey Road under Ramna police station and Md. Kawsar Hossain from the Gandaria area under Shyampur police station on Thursday morning.
Legal action against the arrested individuals is underway at Rampura police station.
