3 Bangladeshis killed, 2 injured in road crash in New York

Three Bangladeshis were killed and two others injured in a severe road accident in Albany of New York.

The crash took place around 7:27pm (local time) on Route 9-H in the Van Wyck Lane area on April 6.

The deceased were identified as Hiramon, 60, and his son Nazmul Robel, 30, from Muradnagar of Cumilla, and Nazmul’s friend Fahim Alim, 27.

The injured, Hiramon’s eldest daughter Ratna, 33, and one-year-old grand-daughter Ikra are receiving treatment at a local hospital.

According to the Bangladeshi community in New York, the group was traveling in a private car driven by Nazmul when it lost control, crossed into the opposite lane, and collided head-on with a Toyota Crown. Hiramon, Nazmul, and Fahim died at the scene.

Funeral prayers for the deceased will be held Wednesday after Zuhr at the Baitul Aman Islamic Center in Bronx, with burial to follow at the Marlboro Muslim Cemetery in New Jersey.
