Three men were beaten and had their hair forcibly cut while collecting donations in the name of a madrasa in Naldanga, Natore.
The incident took place on Saturday (September 27) around noon at Baidyabelgharia Kamal Mor in the upazila.
The injured are Anwar Hossain, Rafiqul Islam, and Mamun Hossain from Rahad Nagdha Para village in Faridpur upazila of Pabna district.
Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Naldanga Police Station, said that the three individuals were collecting Tk 20–30 from shops and households, showing receipts in the name of Cholonbil Al-Jamia Women’s Madrasa. Later, locals expressed suspicion about their activities.
Locals said that around noon, some people at Baidyabelgharia Kamal Mor questioned the legitimacy of their fundraising. At one point, suspecting them to be ‘frauds,’ they were detained, beaten, and had their hair cut. Around Tk 5,000 and a wristwatch in their possession were also taken.
