Three candidates from the ‘Adhipatya Birodhi Oikya’ panel have withdrawn their nominations from the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RUCSU) elections.

On Friday night (September 19), Akil bin Taleb, the panel’s candidate for Associate General Secretary (AGS), announced his withdrawal in a Facebook post, citing “recent realities and personal reasons.”

His exit follows earlier withdrawals by Fahir Amin, candidate for Media and Publication Secretary, on September 12, and M Shamim, candidate for Associate Media and Publication Secretary, on September 17.

Akil stated that while a panel is built through teamwork, an individual candidate’s success ultimately depends on their own qualifications, honesty, and efficiency.

He also acknowledged a lack of mutual understanding within the group and said he was stepping down for similar reasons.

He further mentioned that he had submitted nomination papers for both the AGS and Senate Member positions, but found it impractical to campaign for both. He will now contest only for the Senate Member seat.

The panel’s Vice President (VP) candidate, Mehedi Sajib, former coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, and General Secretary (GS) candidate, Salauddin Ammar, former coordinator of the same platform, declined to comment when contacted regarding the panel's internal issues.
