3 construction workers found dead in Dhaka water tank
The bodies of three construction workers were recovered from a water tank of an under-construction building in the capital’s Bhatara area on Saturday afternoon (August 16), police confirmed.
The deceased have been identified as Md. Rabbi, Md. Liton, and Faridul Islam — all from Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat district. They had been residing at the construction site where they were employed.
Bhatara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rakibul Hasan said a report was received via the emergency hotline 999, stating that four individuals had entered the water tank of a building on Plot 4, Road 14, Block E, and had not come out.
Upon arrival, police found three workers dead inside the tank. A fourth worker, Faridul Islam, was found in critical condition and was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the workers were electrocuted, as electrical wiring was present inside the tank. The bodies have been sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy. Authorities have notified the victims’ families.
An investigation is underway.
