3 DMRC students feared dead in clashes; death toll likely to rise: Authorities

Three students of Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC) at Demra died following clashes between the institute's students and those of Kabi Nazrul Government College and Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College.

The deaths were confirmed by Ashraf Sami, managing director of the Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College.

He also informed that the death toll could be much higher.

"More than 100 students and teachers of DMRC have been injured," he added.

In a written statement, Ashraf Samir said the attack that killed and injured the students was carried out by a group of outsiders who entered the college premises.

Meanwhile, 15 injured students were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) following the rounds of violence in Demra, said Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
