3 farmers killed by lightning strikes in Naogaon

Three farmers have been killed by lightning strikes in Niamatpur and Mahadevpur upazilas of Naogaon. The incidents occurred on Wednesday afternoon, May 6. All three were working in fields when they were struck.

Niamatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahbubur Rahman confirmed two deaths in his upazila. In Hazinagar union, a labourer died on the spot while cutting paddy in a field during a lightning strike. The deceased, a resident of the Khasherhat area, has not yet been identified. In another incident, a worker named Anukul Chandra Mahanto was killed by lightning while collecting paddy from a field in Ramnagar village of Chandonnagar union.

Mahadevpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Omar Faruk said Dilip Chandra Barman died on the spot after being struck by lightning while working in a field in Kurapara village of Khajur union.

Three farmers have died in separate lightning strikes, the OC added.
