Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has suspended three female students from Tapashi Rabeya Hall following allegations of ragging.

The university administration, through a notice signed by acting registrar Dr. Helal Uddin, announced the suspension on Thursday night. Maria Sultana Mim, a student of the Faculty of Agriculture, received a one-year suspension from the hall, while Zobaida Jannat Soha and Ashika Rushda were suspended for six months each.

According to Dr. Israt Jahan Sheli, Provost of Tapashi Rabeya Hall, the incident occurred on the night of May 31 when the three students called a first-year student, Tasnuva, to the hall rooftop intending to rag her. After she refused to go, she was subjected to mental harassment until 4 a.m.

Following an investigation based on Tasnuva’s complaint, the university took disciplinary action under Section 7 of the Student Discipline Ordinance.
