3 held over man mauled by dogs over theft allegation in Cumilla

Three individuals have been arrested in Cumilla’s Burichang upazila after a video surfaced showing a young man being attacked by dogs, allegedly as punishment for theft.

The 31-second video, which went viral on social media Friday evening (September 19), shows the victim being mauled by two dogs while restrained.

The footage sparked widespread outrage and demands for immediate action.

The victim has been identified as Joy Chandra Sarkar, 26, son of Bishno from Shitalpara village in Kasba upazila, Brahmanbaria.

In response to the incident, a team from Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-11, CPC-2 Cumilla, launched a drive and confirmed the arrest of three individuals late Friday night.

However, their names and identities have not yet been disclosed.

RAB stated in a media message at around 12:30am that further details would be provided during a press briefing scheduled for 10:30am Saturday at the Shaktala RAB office in Comilla city.

Company Commander Major Sadman Ibne Alam led the briefing.
