3 Hizb ut-Tahrir members arrested from capital's Uttara
The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested three members of the banned militant group Hizb ut-Tahrir in the early hours of Friday.
A press release from the DMP stated that they were arrested during a drive in capital's Uttara around 12:15am on Friday.
The arrested are- Monirul Islam, 40, Mohtasin Billah, 40, and Mahmudul Hasan, 21.
The arrested individuals, along with other members of the banned militant group, were planning to hold a rally called 'March For Khilafa' in the Baitul Mokarram Mosque area, according to the release.
Acting on this information, a CTTC team carried out a drive in Uttara Sector 11 and 12, where they arrested the suspects.
A case has been filed against the three individuals at Uttara West police station under the Anti-terrorism Act, the press release further added.
