3 including Faisal’s wife placed on 5-day remand in Hadi attempted murder case
A Dhaka court has granted five days’ remand for three people, including the wife and girlfriend of prime accused Faisal Karim Masud, in a case over the attempted murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi by shooting.
The order was passed on Monday, December 15, by Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Joshita Islam after a hearing.
The accused are Faisal’s wife Saheda Parvin Samia, his girlfriend Maria Akter Lima, and his brother-in-law Wahid Ahmed Sipu.
They were produced before the court earlier in the day, after which the investigation officer, DB Police Inspector Faisal Ahmed, sought a seven-day remand for them.
Public prosecutor Omar Faruk Faruki argued in favour of the remand. After the hearing, the court granted five days’ remand.
Earlier on Sunday, Inqilab Mancha member secretary Javed filed the attempted murder case with Paltan Model Police Station.
According to the case details, Sharif Osman Hadi was attacked on December 12, Friday, after Jummah prayers in the Box Culvert Road area of Purana Paltan in the capital. One of two assailants who arrived on a motorcycle shot Hadi in the head while he was in a moving rickshaw and then fled the scene.
Hadi was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Evercare Hospital as his condition deteriorated. He is being taken to Singapore today for advanced treatment.
Doctors said his physical condition is currently critical.
