3 injured in stabbing over dispute at fuel pump

Three young men were injured in a stabbing incident following an altercation over standing in line for fuel at a filling station in Palashbari Upazila.

The incident took place at Messrs Palashbari Filling Station on Thursday noon (April 9).

The injured were identified as Kawsar, 25, Zahid, 23, and Shihab, 22. Police detained the accused, Rezwan, 27, from the scene.

According to eyewitnesses, bikers had been collecting petrol in an orderly queue at the filling station since morning. An argument broke out between Rezwan and several youths over standing in line around 11:45am.

At one point, Rezwan allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked them, leaving Kawsar, Zahid, and Shihab injured. Locals later rushed them to the Palashbari Upazila Health Complex for treatment. As Shihab’s condition deteriorated, he was referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Sheikh Jaber Ahmed said the police quickly brought the situation under control after the unexpected incident triggered by a minor dispute. He confirmed that one person had been detained in connection with the attack.
