The interim government is renaming three Rural Development Academies that were named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Sheikh Hasina, and Sheikh Russel.

The government has amended the law and given both preliminary and final approval to a new draft ordinance to implement these name changes.

The approval was granted during a meeting of the Advisory Council on Thursday (February 6) at the Chief Advisor's office in Tejgaon, chaired by Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

The Cabinet Division issued a notice stating that the name of Sheikh Sheikh Russel Development Academy, Rangpur will be changed to Rural Development Academy, Rangpur; Bangabandhu Academy for Poverty Alleviation and Rural Development (BAPARD), Gopalganj will be renamed Rural Development Academy, Gopalganj; and Sheikh Hasina Rural Development Academy, Jamalpur will be renamed Rural Development Academy, Jamalpur.

The names of the remaining Rural Development Academies will be updated to match these changes, pending review by the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division.

Additionally, the Advisory Council approved the draft amendment to the International Crimes (Tribunal) (Amendment) Ordinance, though the notice did not clarify the specific changes to be made to the law.
