A head-on collision between two buses near the Kanaipur Bazar bridge on the Dhaka-Khulna highway left three people dead and at least fifteen injured on Thursday afternoon. The Dhaka-bound Royal Express collided with the Magura-bound DD Transport around 12:30 PM, severely damaging the front sections of both vehicles. Md. Salauddin Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge of Karimpur Police Station, said nine critically injured passengers were rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where three—including one woman—were declared dead. Two of the deceased have been identified as Ranjit Kumar and Atiar Rahman. Seven others remain hospitalized with serious injuries. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

ফরিদপুরে দুই বাসের মুখোমুখি সংঘর্ষে ৩ জন নিহত হয়েছেন। আহত হয়েছেন অন্তত ১৫ জন। গুরুতর আহত ৬ জনকে ফরিদপুর মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসা দেয়া হচ্ছে। বৃহস্পতিবার (১৪ আগস্ট) দুপুর সাড়ে ১২টার দিকে ঢাকা–খুলনা মহাসড়কের কানাইপুর বাজারসংলগ্ন সেতুর ওপর এ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। নিহতদের মধ্যে দুজনের পরিচয় জানা গেছে। তারা হলেন—রঞ্জিত কুমার ও আতিয়ার রহমান। করিমপুর হাইওয়ে থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মো. সালাউদ্দিন আহমেদ বলেন, ঢাকাগামী রয়েল এক্সপ্রেস ও মাগুরাগামী ডিডি পরিবহনের বাসের মুখোমুখি সংঘর্ষে উভয় বাসের সামনের অংশ দুমড়ে-মুচড়ে যায়। গুরুতর আহত অন্তত ৯ জনকে ফরিদপুর মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে নেয়া হলে এক নারীসহ তিনজনকে চিকিৎসকেরা মৃত ঘোষণা করেন।
