3 killed as covered van, easybike collide in Jamalpur

Three people were killed and four others injured when a covered van collided head-on with an easybike on the Jamalpur–Tangail highway at Digpait area of Jamalpur Sadar on Monday afternoon (October 27).

The deceased were identified as Arifa Akter, 28, of Mahadan union, Rashed Mia, 30, of Sanakur area, and Chan Mia, 62, of Titpalla area.

According to police, Rashed died on the spot, while Arifa and Chan Mia were declared dead at Jamalpur General Hospital. The injured were later shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Nazmus Sakib, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station, said, "The van has been seized and legal action will be taken if a complaint is filed."
