3 killed in bus-truck collision on Dhaka–Tangail highway

Three people, including a woman, were killed and at least 12 others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck at Baoikhola in Basail upazila of Tangail on Wednesday afternoon (October 15).

According to police, the accident took place around 2:30pm when a Jamalpur-bound bus tried to overtake another vehicle and collided with a rod-laden truck. One woman died on the spot, while two others succumbed to injuries at Tangail General Hospital.

Md Jalal Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Basail Police Station, said, "Efforts are underway to identify the victims, and legal procedures are being followed to hand over the bodies to their families."
