Three people have been killed in an alleged gunfight between the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF-Main) and the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (JSS-Main) in Khagrachhari's Panchari upazila. The identities of the deceased couldn’t be known immediately. The incident took place in Madhumangal Para of Chengi Union in the upazila on Monday afternoon. Panchari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Ferdous Wahid said that the two rival groups exchanged gunfire over dominance, leaving three people dead. A police team has gone to the scene to recover the bodies. No statement was immediately available from either UPDF (Main) or JSS (Main) regarding the incident.

খাগড়াছড়ির পানছড়ি উপজেলায় আঞ্চলিক সংগঠন ইউনাইটেড পিপলস ডেমোক্রেটিক ফ্রন্ট (ইউপিডিএফ-প্রসীত) ও জনসংহতি সমিতির (জেএসএস)-এর মধ্যে গোলাগুলিতে তিনজন নিহত হয়েছেন। সোমবার দুপুরে উপজেলার চেঙ্গী ইউনিয়নের মধুমঙ্গলপাড়া এলাকায় আধিপত্য বিস্তারকে কেন্দ্র করে এ সংঘর্ষের ঘটনা ঘটে। পানছড়ি থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মো. ফেরদৌস ওয়াহিদ বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে জানান, দুই পক্ষের গোলাগুলিতে ঘটনাস্থলেই তিনজন নিহত হয়েছেন। তবে তাৎক্ষণিকভাবে নিহতদের পরিচয় জানা যায়নি। তিনি বলেন, খবর পেয়ে পুলিশ ঘটনাস্থলে গিয়ে মরদেহ উদ্ধারের কাজ শুরু করেছে। ঘটনার বিস্তারিত জানার পাশাপাশি পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আইনশৃঙ্খলা বাহিনী কাজ করছে। এদিকে, ঘটনার বিষয়ে এখন পর্যন্ত ইউপিডিএফ বা জেএসএসের কোনো নেতা আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে বক্তব্য দেননি।
