3 killed in road accident in Jashore

Three members of the same family, including a father, his son and granddaughter, were killed in a road accident in Bagerpara upazila of Jashore. Three other people were also injured in the incident.

The accident occurred around 2:00am at Gaidghat Bazar in the Bondobila union along the Jashore–Magura highway in Bagerpara Upazila on Monday night (March 23).

The deceased were identified as Majid Sardar, 70, of Fatehabad village under Monirampur Upazila; his son Mahmud Hasan Zakaria Jony, 43; and Jony’s four-year-old daughter Seherish.

According to police and local residents, the victims were returning home to Monirampur in a private car after visiting a relative’s house. When the vehicle reached Gaidghat on the Jashore–Magura road, the driver reportedly lost control and the car crashed into a banyan tree.

Three people died on the spot in the crash.

After receiving the information, police and members of the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence rescued the victims and took them to Jashore General Hospital.

Sub-Inspector Zahid Hossain of the Barobazar Highway Police Station in Jhenaidah said the bodies were recovered at night and taken to the morgue of Jashore General Hospital. As the family did not file any complaint, the bodies were handed over to the relatives without conducting autopsies.
