3 killed in separate road accidents in Natore
Three people, including a van driver and a 90-year-old pedestrian, were killed in separate road accidents in Natore over the weekend.
The first incident occurred around midnight on Saturday in the Barihati area of Singra upazila, along the Bogura highway. A passenger bus struck a battery-operated van, killing van driver Mozammel Haque and passenger Akhtar Hossain.
According to Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahabur Rahman of Jhalmalia Highway Police Station, the impact of the collision severely damaged the van. Fire service personnel rescued the injured and rushed them to Natore Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared both victims dead on arrival.
Police later seized the bus from the Rajapur area of Baraigram upazila. However, the driver and his assistant managed to flee the scene.
In a separate incident on Sunday morning, 90-year-old Nazim Uddin was fatally struck by a motorcycle while crossing the road at Hazaratpur Bazar on the Natore-Dhaka highway. The victim was a resident of Ibrahimpur village in Sadar upazila and the son of Siraj Uddin.
OC Rahman confirmed that legal proceedings are underway in connection with both accidents.
