3 killed in truck-ambulance collision in Faridpur

Three people were killed and two others seriously injured in a head-on collision between a truck and an ambulance in Bhanga Upazila of Faridpur.

The accident took place around 7:30am on the Bhanga–Khulna Highway near the Munsurabad area on Saturday morning (December 27).

The deceased have been identified as Nishan, 23, son of Rahmatullah from Rajganj village in Monirampur, Jashore; Mizanur Rahman, 40, son of Babar Ali from Chaltibari village in Keshabpur; and his sister Beauty, 30.

According to police and local sources, the truck was travelling from Bhanga towards Khulna when it collided head-on with the ambulance coming from the opposite direction. All three victims were passengers in the ambulance. Two others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

Police and Fire Service teams arrived at the scene promptly to rescue the victims.

Helal Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhanga Highway Police Station, confirmed the incident, stating that both vehicles had been recovered and brought to the police station.

"The bodies of the deceased are being handed over to their families, and a case is being prepared in connection with the accident," he added.
