3 killed in truck–auto-rickshaw collision in Natore
Three people were killed and several others injured after a head-on collision between a truck and an auto-rickshaw in Lalpur Upazila of Natore District on Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred around 6:45am in the Nabinagar area along the Lalpur–Ishwardi regional road.
The deceased were identified as Zahidul Islam, 50, son of Joha Master from Choto Badkoya village; Monir Hossain, 27, son of Seken from the same area; and Babul Hossain, 25.
The injured include Mithun, 30, son of Wazed from Boro Badkoya village; Golam Rabbi, son of Siddiq Ali from Bhelabaria village; Rajibul Islam, 26, son of Fazlur Rahman; Majnu, 35, son of Abdul Khalek from Ramkrishnapur village; and Babul, 40, from Choto Badkoya village.
Officer-in-Charge Mujibur Rahman of Lalpur Police Station said a sand-laden truck heading toward Lalpur collided head-on with an oncoming auto-rickshaw. One passenger of the auto-rickshaw, Zahidul Islam, died on the spot while six others were injured.
Later, two more victims—Monir and Babul—succumbed to their injuries while being taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Police recovered the bodies and took them to the police station. The two vehicles involved in the accident have been seized, and legal action is being taken in connection with the incident, the OC added.
