3 killed in lightning strike in Netrakona

Three people have died in separate lightning strikes in Netrokona's Khaliajuri upazila. The accidents occurred on Monday morning and afternoon (April 27).

The deceased are Abdul Motalib, 55, of Bagber village in Ishwarganj upazila of Mymensingh, Monayem Khan Palan, 53, of Satgaon village in the same upazila, and Shuvo Mandal of Aknadighirchar village in Sirajganj.

According to local sources, Abdul Motalib was seriously injured in a lightning strike while fishing with a pole near the Rasulpur ferry ghat in Khaliajuri in the morning and died on the spot.

Monayem Khan Palan lost his life in a lightning strike while drying paddy in front of his house in the afternoon.

Shuvo Mandal was also killed in a separate incident on the same day.

Khaliajuri Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Nasir Uddin confirmed the deaths of three people.

He said that the sudden lightning strike has brought a sense of mourning to the area.
