3 madrasa students killed by lightning while performing ablution in Narsingdi
Three madrasa students were killed and another was injured after being struck by lightning while performing ablution (wudu) in Monohardi upazila of Narsingdi on Sunday evening.
The incident took place at the Pachkandi Madinatul Ulum Madrasa and Orphanage under Gotashia union of the upazila just before the Maghrib prayers.
The deceased were identified as Jahirul Haq, 15, Abu Raihan, 14, and Abu Zafor, 15. All of them hailed from Hossainpur upazila of Kishoreganj district and resided at the madrasa dormitory.
According to police and local sources, the four students were making ablution ahead of the evening prayers when a streak of lightning struck the area, leaving them critically injured.
They were immediately rescued and rushed to the Shibpur Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician declared three of them dead on arrival.
Monohardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahangir Badsha confirmed the incident, adding that the surviving student is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
