Three family members were killed in a landslide at Pekua Upazila in Cox's Bazar. The accident took place around 2:00 am on Sunday (August 18) in the Jaralbunia area of Shilkhali Union within the upazila. The identities of the victims could not be known immediately. Mohammad Ilyas, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pekua police station, has confirmed the matter. He said, "The heavy rain made the soil unstable, causing the hill to collapse and resulting in the deaths of three family members. Police were dispatched to the scene upon receiving the report. Details will be provided once they return."

কক্সবাজারের পেকুয়ায় পাহাড় ধসে একই পরিবারের ৩ জন নিহত হয়েছেন। শনিবার (১৭ আগস্ট) দিবাগত রাত ২টার দিকে উপজেলার শিলখালী ইউনিয়নের জারালবুনিয়া এলাকায় এই দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। তাৎক্ষণিক নিহতদের নাম-পরিচয় পাওয়া যায়নি। পেকুয়া থানার অফিসার ইনচার্জ (ওসি) মোহাম্মদ ইলিয়াস বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তিনি বলেন, অতিবৃষ্টির কারণে মাটি নরম হয়ে পাহাড় ধসে একই পরিবারের ৩ জন নিহত হয়েছেন। খবর পেয়ে ঘটনাস্থলে পুলিশ পাঠানো হয়েছে। তারা ফিরে এলে এ বিষয়ে বিস্তারিত জানা যাবে।
