3 members of same family found dead in Bagerhat
The bodies of three members of the same family were found inside a house in Chanderkhola village of Kachua Upazila, Bagerhat, on Tuesday (August 4). Local residents discovered the bodies and informed the police.
The deceased have been identified as Monira Begum, 52, wife of the late Abdar Ali; her son Ahad Hawlader, 25; and Monira's mother Rashida Begum, 85. Rashida Begum was the wife of the late Abdur Rashid from Brishtipur village in Bagerhat Sadar Upazila. She had reportedly come to visit her daughter's home a few days earlier.
After receiving the report, personnel from the police, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), and the upazila administration arrived at the scene.
A large number of local residents also gathered there.
Confirming the incident, Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Mahmud Hasan of Kachua Police Station said that several neighboring women first noticed the elderly woman's body lying on the veranda. When they called out to the other occupants and received no response, they entered the house and found the bodies of Monira Begum and Ahad Hawlader inside. Police later recovered all three bodies.
The SI said investigators initially believe the killings may have occurred two to three days earlier.
However, because neighboring residents were away, the incident was not discovered immediately.
He added that the exact cause and motive remain unknown.
However, the victims had injuries to their heads, leading investigators to suspect that the deaths were the result of a premeditated homicide.
The bodies are being prepared for autopsy, and an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances of the deaths and identify those responsible.
