3 Milestone teachers will be remembered forever for their bravery: CA
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus said the nation will remember Milestone School and College teachers Mehreen Chowdhury, Masuka Begum, and Mahfuza Khanam—who lost their lives in the plane crash—as shining examples of humanity and courage.
Dr. Yunus made these remarks on Tuesday afternoon (August 19), during a meeting at the state guesthouse Jamuna, where the family members of the three teachers who died in the plane crash met with the Chief Adviser.
Those present included: Monsur Helal, the husband of teacher Mehreen Chowdhury; her two sons, Adil Rashid and Ayan Rashid; her sister, Mehetaj Chowdhury; her brother, Munaf Mojib Chowdhury; and close relative Kawsar Hossain Chowdhury. Also present were teacher Masuka Begum’s sister, Papri Rahman, and brother-in-law, Khalilur Rahman; as well as teacher Mahfuza Khatun’s daughter, Ayesha Siddika; her sister, Murshida Khatun; her nephew, Md. Maidul Islam; and close relative Humayun Kabir.
The Chief Adviser said, “Even though some time has passed, the memory is still fresh and painful for everyone. As soon as I heard about the incident, I wanted to meet you. But at that difficult time, it would not have been appropriate. We can express sympathy to you, but we do not have the power to erase this painful memory. However, I can say this—this grief is not yours alone. As a nation, we share this sorrow.”
The Chief Adviser also wanted to hear personal memories of the three teachers from their families.
“It is painful to hear about them. At the same time, I feel proud that our country has such citizens who risked their own lives in fire to save others. They set an example of humanity. We were small, but they made us greater. They touched everyone’s hearts. These teachers are our pride, our role models. We must preserve their memory. Whatever needs to be done, we will do,” he added.
