3 more cases against NBR official Matiur, family members

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed three cases against former National Board of Revenue (NBR) member Matiur Rahman, who was in the news for his son's goat issue, his wife and son.

They have been accused of acquiring illegal wealth worth Tk124 crore and concealing information about their assets.

The ACC has filed three separate cases against Matiur Rahman's first wife Laila Kaniz, son Ahmed Taufiqur Rahman Arnab and daughter Farzana Rahman.

The three cases were filed at the ACC's integrated district office in Dhaka on Monday (January 6).

ACC Director General (Prevention) Md. Akhter Hossain confirmed.

He said that the ACC had issued a notice to former National Board of Revenue official Matiur Rahman asking for an account of his assets.

Later, the verification and investigation of the asset declarations provided by them revealed a huge amount of information about their assets.

A few days ago, a case was filed against Matiur Rahman and his wife Laila Kaneez for allegedly acquiring illegal assets worth around Tk15 crore.

In addition, two cases were filed against Matiur Rahman and his second wife Shammi Akhtar Shibli for allegedly acquiring illegal assets worth Tk11.18 crore and concealing information about their assets.
