3 more die from dengue
Dengue has claimed three more lives in the past 24 hours, while 782 new patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
As of October 6, a total of 50,689 people have been infected this year, with 48,001 recovering and returning home.
Among new admissions, Barishal (outside the city corporation area) reported the highest number—174 patients—followed by 145 in other parts of Dhaka division, 83 in Chattogram, 64 in Rajshahi, 57 in Khulna, 35 in Mymensingh, 11 in Rangpur, and 5 in Sylhet. Dhaka North City recorded 118 cases and Dhaka South 90.
So far, 215 people have died from dengue this year. While infections are lower than last year, health authorities have urged continued vigilance. In comparison, 101,214 people were infected and 575 died in 2024, while 321,179 cases and 1,705 deaths were recorded in 2023.
