3 more die of dengue in 24 hrs

The country reported three more dengue-related deaths in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of fatalities this year to 401. During the same period, 421 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.

The data was released in the daily update from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday (December 9).

Among the three deceased, two were men and one was a woman.

According to the report, new admissions in the past 24 hours include 64 patients in Barishal, 63 in Chattogram, 73 in Dhaka, 75 in Dhaka North, 72 in Dhaka South, 30 in Khulna, 31 in Mymensingh, 12 in Rajshahi and 1 in Rangpur.

So far this year, 98,705 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals. Last year, Bangladesh recorded 575 dengue-related deaths and 121,214 hospital admissions. The highest annual dengue death toll was recorded in 2023, with 1,705 fatalities.
